Rotaract InstallationThe Rotaract Club of Gombak held its 6th Installation of the President and Board of Directors for the Rotary Y ear 2008-2009 at COCA Restaurant, Subang Parade on a Saturday evening, 16 August 2008. This event was carried out successfully under the continuous support from our sponsoring club, Rotary Club of Gombak, various Rotaract Clubs from District 3300, members and organizing committee of RAC Gombak. Installation 2008-2009The 39th Installation of the President & Board of Directors 2008-2009 of the Rotary Club of Gombak, took place at the Equatorial Hotel in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, 3 August 2008. The event was attended by numerous Rotary Club representatives from District 3300, as well as a contingent of around 30 visiting Rotarians from Gombak’s Sister Clubs - the Rotary Club of Tanglin, Singapore; Rotary Club of Makati South, the Philippines; and Rotary Club of Taipei Southwest, Taiwan. The Guest of Honour was the Hon. Youssouf Mohammad Oomar, Country Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund - UNICEF. Read more

Interact Leadership Training Seminar 2008

ILTS 2008The Rotary Club of Gombak recently organised a successful Interact Leadership Training Seminar (ILTS) for the incoming Interact Presidents and their Officers for the RotaryInteract logo Year 2008-2009. Hosted by SMK Seri Ampang on 28 June 2008, the event was well attended with over 60 participants representing the six Gombak Interact schools, Teacher Advisors, Rotaractors and Rotarians. The seminar also marked the last event to be officiated by President Ridzuan Yang as he ended his Presidency term. Read more

Gombak sends record delegation to Rotary Convention in Los Angeles

RI Convention Los AngelesThe Rotary Club of Gombak was well represented at the recent Rotary International Convention in Los Angeles, USA, which saw 17,000 Rotarians from around the world gather for the annual event. Gombak was represented by a club record of six delegates: DGN Leslie Salehuddin and Ann Ziela; President Ridzuan, Past Presidents Sen Gupta and James Emarievbe; and Club Bulletin Editor Douglas Brown. The Gombak delegation was the largest in District 3300, which was represented by 14 Rotarians and spouses in total. Read more

District to Send Fact Finding Mission to Myanmar

Shelter Box for Disaster ReliefRotarians have been concerned about the recent disaster in Mynmar. District 3300 Governor Joe Rajendran announced that after discussions with the District Disaster Relief Committee, a group of Rotarians will be leaving for Yongon on a fact finding trip on the 17 May 2008. There has been a slight delay as the group is unable to travel as relief workers as visas are not provided for this category. Read more

Lee asks Rotarians to “Make Dreams Real”

RI International AssemblyRotary International President-elect Dong Kurn Lee addressed incoming district governors today at the 2008 International Assembly, urging them to use their resources to help curb child mortality. Lee said he was in disbelief when he learned that 30,000 children under the age of five die every day from preventable diseases such as pneumonia, measles, and malaria. Read more
