District to Send Fact Finding Mission to Myanmar
May 13, 2008
Rotarians have been concerned about the recent disaster in Mynmar. District 3300 Governor Joe Rajendran announced that after discussions with the District Disaster Relief Committee, a group of Rotarians will be leaving for Yongon on a fact finding trip on the 17 May 2008. There has been a slight delay as the group is unable to travel as relief workers as visas are not provided for this category.
The group will report back once they are familiar with the way relief is provided to the affected people and what would be the most effective means of channelling our resources. If Clubs or individual Rotarians would like to assist in relief efforts you can donate to the The District Disaster Relief Fund or wait till the team to Myanmar returns with a list of requirements and how it would reach those affected by Cyclone Nargis.
