Installation of the President & Board of Directors 2008-2009

The 39th Installation of the President & Board of Directors 2008-2009 of the Rotary Club of Gombak, took place at the Equatorial Hotel in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, 3 August 2008. The event was attended by numerous Rotary Club representatives from District 3300, as well as a contingent of around 30 visiting Rotarians from Gombak’s Sister Clubs - the Rotary Club of Tanglin, Singapore; Rotary Club of Makati South, the Philippines; and Rotary Club of Taipei Southwest, Taiwan. The Guest of Honour was the Hon. Youssouf Mohammad Oomar, Country Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund - UNICEF.

Also in attendance was Chairman of the Council of Past Governors, PDG Dr Mahinder Singh, and Past District Governors Dato’ Vincent Tang, David Ho, Paul Lee, Dr RT Arasu, Datuk Dr N Lakshmanan; and their spouses. Immediate Past District Governor Dr Joeseph Rajendran, District Governor Elect Leslie Salehuddin and Ann Ziela, District Governor Nominee Lim Kok Beng and Assistant Governor S Kulasegaran; were also present. Other notable guests included former Philippines Senator, Past President Mike Romero and Charter member Dato’ Lai Lok Kun and his wife, Datin Susan.

The night saw Immediate Past President Ridzuan Yang install President Peter Pek as the new President of the Club. President Peter then installed his new Board of Directors and introduced the Standing Committee Chairs under the Club Leadership Plan. The Organising Chair was Vice President Joyce Lim.

The event included a presentation of RM20,000 to three charities - Persatuan Dyslexia, PS The Children and Yayasan Salaam. Another highlight of the event was the official launch of mozziesafe, which is a community and international service project of the Club.

The celebrations included a birthday cake for our Hon. Secretary Leong Keng Mun and PDG Dr RT Arasu. Festivities continued well into the night.
