Meeting of 10 July 2008 - Make Your Own Photo Books

July 14, 2008

PhotobookReport of the regular meeting held on Thursday 10 July 2008.

We had a very interesting speaker for the second meeting for the year, Mr Kelvin Koay, the Business Development Director of PhotoBook Malaysia, a Print-on-Demand (PoD) printer of quality coffee table books.

Sergeant-At-Arms Dr Kieran McClanahan wanted to begin the meeting promptly but we had to wait just a little bit for everyone to turn up, and the meeting ended at exactly 2pm.

Making your own Photo Books
PhotoBook Malaysia is a Print-on-Demand (PoD) printer, which produces extremely high quality coffee table books which are beautifully bound and professionally presented. PoD is a relatively new technology that allows consumers to print as little as just one copy of a book. Many of us do not want to spend hours viewing photographs on a computer screen. It really makes a world of a difference to hold a printed book in front of you to view photographs.

The uses of photobooks are almost endless - from weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, corporate use, portfolios, holidays, a new home, shop or office - all of these events can be photographically recorded and printed into a book. Kelvin spent time showing us the free software that can be downloaded from his company’s website that will assist you in creating and putting together your photobook.

It was suggested that RC Gombak present each President with a record of his or her year in a photobook, as a gift from members at the end of a Rotary year. President Peter can’t wait to get his copy!

INTRODUCED BY Membership Chair Aimee Liew ¤ THANKED BY Rotarian Wong Su Yin

PRESIDENT’S ADDRESS

  • President Peter Pek reported that he will be attending the Installations of the Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur North (Group 6) on 11 August, and the Rotary Club of Melawati on 12 August.
  • Members who are interested in attending the Installation of our sister club, Rotary Club of Tanglin, Singapore, on 2 August, should contact Past President Vincent Ng to make travel arrangements. He reminded members that our own Installation takes place the following day on 3 August, so the stay in Singapore will only be for that one night.
