The Power and Passion - A Festival of Cantonese Opera

In conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2007, the Rotary Club of Gombak presented The Power and Passion - A Festival of Cantonese Opera, at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC). The show was performed by the Guangdong Cantonese Opera Academy First Troupe. Known as the best Cantonese Opera Troupe in the world, the group is famous for its outstanding performances, and comprises a strong lineup of some of the best actors in Cantonese Opera. This tour marks the troupe’s first ever performance in Malaysia. The performances included English subtitles.

This 50-strong troupe led by the world renowned Ding Fan, comprises actors, musicians and acrobats. They will delighted audiences with popular opera tales of love, power and passion.

Held from 26 June to 1 July 2007, the Festival was in aid of:

• Persatuan Dyslexia Kuala Lumpur

Patrons for the charity performance included Tan Sri Datuk Amar Leo Moggie, Dato’ Lee Yee Cheong, Dato’ Abdul Majid Ahmad Khan and Dato’ Douglas KK Lee. The Service Project Director from RC Gombak was Lee Jia Peng.
